Back to the beginning

One of the most difficult things you have to decide when writing things is, where to start? So, unlike Starwars, I thought I would start at the beginning with my first introduction to computers.
I come from a whole family of computer geeks. I was twelve years old when my Dad brought home our very first computer. Now, looking at my profile photo, you may think *ahem* that was not so long ago. But in fact - our very first computer was a Sinclair ZX81!!!!! You can see a photo of one of these little beauties at,
http://www.zx81.de/english/_main_e.htm
Of course now even the Dymo labeller I own is more complex than the ZX81. It was a very user friendly introduction to computers. The ZX81 only had 1K of memory built in, so it was a big day when we could afford to buy more RAM!!!
Another computing milestone was the acquisition of our BBC computer!!! You can read everything about the history of the Beeb right here,

The Beeb was amazing! Colour! Sound! I learnt how to program in basic! New rules had to be enforced as to how long you were allowed to play "Elite" for!!! We had a daisy wheel printer - how fun is that?
Following this came the long dark tea time of my computing history when I went to Teacher's college. Sadly, I could not afford my own computer at that time. Fortunately after Teacher's college I met my wonderful DH! He was working in computer operations and so from that time on, it has become critical that we all own a computer! And so it came to pass that when I looked at Yahoo's ten year celebration pictures, I recognised all of their stages! Yikes! I've been surfing the net for ten years!!! Tune in for the continuing saga of how I came to love Macs!!!
